Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is going for spectrum auction of Wireless Local Loop (WLL) licenses in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJ&K) and Gilgit-Baltistan Today. Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and LinkDotNet Telecom Limited have already qualified for the spectrum auction of WLL licenses for both AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan. According to our industry sources, spectrum is going to be allotted according to base price.
PTA to Hold WLL Spectrum Auction for AJK & GB Today
PTA Chairman Syed Ismail Shah told media that:
“This correspondent that there is no delay in the auction and would be held on December 29, 2015. PTA has notified qualified applicants and the successful applicants have been informed accordingly. Information package containing requisite information and instructions to participate in the auction is also being provided to qualified applicants.”
PTA has planned to auction spectrum in 1900MHz & 3.5GHz bands for WLL licenses for AJK and GB regions. If PTA successfully sold this available auction then it will most likely generate Rs 90 million in total for 2×5 MHz in 1900MHz band and two 30 MHz un-paired lots in 3.5GHz bands. The winners of spectrum will pay auction fee within 30 days.
Both AJK and GB are technologically backward but this significant step people of these areas will enjoy internet services.
