PTCL to Pay Dues or Face Charges: PTA On Fire
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has warned PTCL of heavy fines if they fail to pay its dues worth PKR 46.04 million, so, PTCL to Pay Dues or Face Charges: PTA On Fire. A deadline of 15 days has been given in which PTCL can pay the fines without any further government action. The issue of numbering charges for the financial years 2010-2011 has been the reason for this fine.

A Show Cause Notice issued in August 2011 asks the telecommunication giant to remedy it’s charges by making the aforementioned payment. This notice included an owing of a payment of PKR 46.04 million in numbering charges including a penalty for late payment.
Several letters and reminders were issued to PTCL concerning this matter but the company failed to respond to these letters, due to which further action was taken to bring the authority in question to justice. This enabled Pakistan Telecom Rules to come into play.
PTCL is liable to pay annual number charges as per numbering plan regulations “Number Allocation and Administration Regulations, 2011” issued by the PTA from time to time
PTA states that these notices were only sent after the case was heard from PTCL’s point of view during the numbering charges hearings at PTA headquarters.
