Smartphone intervention into government is not new in Pakistan. This time Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) announced to use smartphones in order to conduct its intra-part elections. In this regard, the Election Commission Secretary Col (r) Khalid Zahoor said that:
“PTI was the only political party in South Asia that was conducting direct intra-party elections through mobile phones. Election polling staff would be provided special training in all four provinces to hold transparent elections.”

He also added that:
“All PTI bodies stand dissolved in the provinces as of January 15, and their funds will be frozen and a helpline had been established for this purpose.”
Mr. Khalid said that the Election Commission and other government bodies would be assisting with the entire electoral process in future.
“Wherever there is no mobile coverage, district coordinator will be assisting the process,” he said.
