Punjab Government Signs MoU with Chinese Companies to Establish an Information Industry Park

Punjab Government and two Chinese companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday to establish an Information Industry Park. The MoU signed by the heads of Punjab IT Board (PITB), Hangzhou East Technology Investment Co. Ltd. and Ruba SEZ Group at Arfa Software Technology Park further targets at building an advance Management system for Information Industry, constructing long term IT Industry development plan and stimulating the national level organization and sign the contract between Pakistan and China on IT industry development.

Chairman PITB Dr. Umar Saif stated the MoU as a milestone that would build up the highly ignored IT industry in Pakistan. He pledged full assistance to the signatories to complete the given tasks within specified time period.
Terming the MoU another landmark for establishing  Pak-China friendship, the Chairman of the Hangzhou Mr. Song Xiaochun told that the parties would endeavor to the best of their abilities to create investment leads and share information on the prolonged opportunities.
Mr. Song Xiaochun said:
“Main purpose of our visit is to get true thoughts and concerns on China-Pak Economic Corridor and IT Industry Park from central and local governments,  to finalise the feasibility of IT Industry Park, to investigate potential sites and get to know policies, services and infrastructures, to explore regular consultation mechanism, set up the counterpart communication with central, provincial and local government and finally to discuss the Hawk Training program for Pakistani software talent and promoting the cooperation framework of IT authorities between two countries. We will mutually organize events, trade fairs and exchange delegations in order to achieve the MoU’s objectives.”
Mr. Faisal Yuosaf and Fasieh Mehta of PITB gave a thorough demonstration on the flagship plans of PITB and Information Technology University (ITU). The delegation also visited various sectors of ITU where it evaluated the projections for future partnership in ITU’s formation and progress at Knowledge Park Lahore.
