Punjab Plans Interest-Free E-Bikes and E-Taxis for Youth in Upcoming Budget

The Punjab government is preparing to introduce a major transportation and employment initiative in its upcoming budget by offering 50,000 e-bikes and 5,000 electric taxis on an interest-free basis. The proposal aims to help students and unemployed young people access affordable transport while creating new opportunities for income generation.

The plan has already received approval for inclusion in the next provincial budget and is expected to become one of the government’s key youth-focused programs. Officials believe the initiative will not only make transportation more accessible but also support the province’s broader environmental goals by encouraging the use of electric vehicles.

The government is also exploring additional incentives, including assistance with vehicle registration and related expenses.

According to the minister, the initiative will bring more young people into economic activity by helping them start earning through transportation services. For many unemployed individuals, access to a vehicle can open the door to self-employment opportunities and provide a stable source of income.

The e-bike program will benefit thousands of students who often face transportation challenges while traveling to educational institutions. By offering electric bikes on easy terms, the government hopes to reduce transportation costs for students and make daily commuting more convenient.

In addition to supporting youth, the initiative will also contribute to environmental sustainability.
