Qualcomm Partners with ZTE to Build Personal Safety Trackers

Qualcomm has collaborated with ZTE and Wearsafe to design a personal security tracking for wearable devices. This partnership is announced at CES 2018. ZTE will design and build a security focused wearable that will be based on existing Snapdragon wear 1100 platform. This will be combined with personal security software by Wearsafe. Personal safety software developer Wearsafe is also joining the fourth largest smartphone vendor in the US and one of the world’s top chipmakers in a concerted effort to tap into a new Internet of Things market.

Regarding this partnership, Jeff Yee, VP of Product Marketing and Strategy of ZTE Mobile Devices said:
“The work between ZTE, Qualcomm Technologies and Wearsafe will create the next generation of personal safety solutions through a small wearable device. “A connected personal tracking solution is yet another untapped IoT market and a need from consumers that has not been fulfilled. ZTE looks forward to creating its first-ever personal security device and bringing the solution to market.”
Availability details are just as vague as everything else, and we can’t even share a conceptual render at the moment. What ZTE is willing to tell us is “operators in the US and globally” will most likely embrace this excessively secretive personal security tracking solution “over time.”
