Qualcomm’s New Fingerprint Sensors work under glass and underwater
Qualcomm is best known for making the chips that power smartphones, but the company has also been developing fingerprint sensors for a while. Now Qualcomm announced that its next-gen fingerprint sensors will use ultrasonic technology. Qualcomm’s New Fingerprint Sensors will work under glass, under display and underwater.

These sensors can be fitted under displays, glass and metal, and can scan through OLED displays up to 1200 um. These sensors will launch in the first half of 2018. Not only this, these sensors can detect heart beat and blood flow whether the screen is on or off.
Qualcomm has also unveiled Snapdragon 450 for mid range and entry level phones. The new chipset will likely replace its predecessor Snapdragon 435. Qualcomm highlighted for major improvements in 450 over the previous generations.

Not only this, Qualcomm also introduced a new Qualcomm Smart Audio Platform to help manufacturers accelerate the development and commercialization of smart and networked speakers. The company offers two SoC options based on Qualcomm’s APQ8009 and APQ8017, with a range of software configurations for OEMs.
