Qualcomm’s Next Premium Snapdragon Chip Gets a New Adreno Neural Fusion GPU

Qualcomm is preparing a new premium Snapdragon chipset with a major focus on AI-powered graphics. The company has now revealed its next-generation Adreno Neural Fusion GPU, which is designed to bring AI processing closer to the graphics pipeline.
The upcoming Snapdragon chip will be the first from Qualcomm to include dedicated AI GPU cores inside its graphics architecture. These cores, called Matrix Cores, are placed within each of the GPU’s three 1.45GHz slices.
Qualcomm says the Matrix Cores can run advanced AI models directly within the graphics pipeline. Keeping AI processing close to the GPU should reduce the need to move data between different parts of the chip. This can help lower latency and improve power efficiency.

The new GPU also includes 18MB of dedicated High Performance Memory (HPM) cache. While the cache size may not sound particularly large, Qualcomm says it is designed to keep important graphics data close to the GPU. This includes tiles, frame buffers and compute workloads.
Keeping these workloads on-chip could reduce the amount of data that needs to travel back and forth to system memory. This should help the GPU work more efficiently, particularly during demanding gaming and graphics tasks.
Qualcomm claims the Neural Fusion architecture can deliver up to a 40% improvement in power efficiency when the technology is enabled. The company believes this could lead to longer gaming sessions while maintaining better graphics performance.
AI will also play a larger role in how games and other graphics-heavy applications render images. Qualcomm says the new system can support AI-enhanced rendering, which could improve image quality, frame-rate stability and overall efficiency.
The company has already worked with major game development platforms. Unity and Unreal Engine have integrated Qualcomm’s Neural Fusion technology, which could make it easier for developers to take advantage of the new GPU architecture.

The new Adreno GPU is expected to be part of Qualcomm’s next flagship Snapdragon platform. The company has already revealed details about the chip’s next-generation Oryon CPU, and more information is expected soon.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit is scheduled for September 22–24. The company will officially introduce more details about the upcoming processor during the summit. Qualcomm will also reveal information about its new NPU, giving a clearer picture of how the chip will handle AI workloads across the CPU, GPU, and dedicated AI hardware.
Overall, the Neural Fusion GPU suggests Qualcomm is taking a different approach to mobile graphics. Instead of relying only on traditional GPU performance, the company is adding dedicated AI hardware to improve rendering, efficiency, and gaming performance.
