Qualcomm’s latest mid-range mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, has made its first appearance on Geekbench, offering an early look at its CPU performance. The benchmark was conducted using the recently launched Honor X80 Pro Max, giving consumers and smartphone enthusiasts their first glimpse of what to expect from the new processor.

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 was officially introduced as the successor to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 and is expected to power several affordable 5G smartphones throughout the year. Among the confirmed and rumored devices are the Honor X80 Pro Max and Xiaomi’s upcoming Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G.

The comparison suggests that Qualcomm has focused less on raw CPU performance this generation, with only marginal improvements visible in benchmark results.

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 features the new Adreno 812 GPU, which the company claims delivers approximately 20% better graphics performance than the Adreno 810 found in the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4.

This upgrade could translate into smoother gaming, improved graphics rendering, and better overall multimedia performance, even if CPU-intensive tasks see only modest gains.
