Realme Neo 8 Confirmed to Feature Custom Samsung Display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

Realme has officially confirmed several key details about its upcoming Neo 8 gaming smartphone, which will debut later this month in China. While the company has yet to announce an exact launch date, multiple teasers and official statements have revealed information about the device’s display technology, chipset, design, and performance. Realme has confirmed that the Neo 8 will feature a customised Samsung display panel. The panel is expected to be a modified version of Samsung’s M14 display, supporting a 165Hz refresh rate. This high refresh rate positions the Neo 8 firmly in the gaming-focused smartphone segment, promising smoother animations and improved responsiveness during gameplay.

The company’s choice of Samsung display technology is consistent with its recent flagship strategy. Last year, the Realme GT 7 Pro launched with Samsung’s Eco² LTPO OLED panel, which uses a polarizer-free (non-polarized) display design. By eliminating the traditional polarizer layer, this technology improves brightness efficiency while reducing harmful light exposure, potentially lowering eye strain. While Realme has not confirmed whether the Neo 8 will adopt the same Eco² LTPO technology, the use of a customised Samsung panel suggests a focus on display performance and efficiency.

Powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

Realme has also confirmed that the Neo 8 will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC. According to an official poster, the device has achieved an impressive benchmark score of 3.85 million, indicating flagship-level performance.

This chipset will deliver significant gains in CPU, GPU, and AI performance, making the Neo 8 a strong contender in the high-performance gaming smartphone category.

Design and RGB Lighting

In addition to hardware details, Realme has teased the Neo 8’s design. The smartphone will be available in a Cyber Purple colorway and features a triple rear camera setup. Beside the camera module is an RGB light strip branded as the “Awakening Halo” system, which is likely aimed at gamers and users who prefer visually distinctive devices.

The handset also sports a metal frame combined with a transparent glass back panel, reinforcing its premium and performance-focused design language.

Battery and Variants

Additionally, reports suggest that a Neo 8 Infinite Edition may also be in development, although details about this variant remain limited.

Launch Timeline

Realme has also confirmed that the Neo 8 will launch in January in China. More details regarding pricing, exact launch date, camera specifications, and global availability will also be available soon
