Rolls-Royce Launches Electric Airplane the Spirit of Innovation

Since the realization of scarcity of fuel reserves and endangerment of the nature, the transition of automobiles from combustible fuels to environment friendly sources of energy has started. Every automobile company have launched a product line of Electric Vehicles. Rolls-Royce has taken this competition a step further by creating an all electric airplane called the Spirit of Innovation.

The Spirit of Innovation has broken two world speed records. The World Air Sports Federation has verified both the experiments conducted by Rolls-Royce. The Rolls-Royce Spirit of Innovation has reached a speed of 387.4 mph (623 km/h); it has made a new record of fastest electric vehicle ever. According to BBC two world speed records have been broken by an all-electric aircraft built by Rolls-Royce.

In November 2021, the Rolls-Royce electric  Airplane has hit an average of 555.9 km/h (345. mph) over 3 km and 532.1 km/h (330mph) over 15 km. Both these experiments were verified as records by the World Air Sports Federation.

The maximum speed it has attained is 387.4 mph which makes it the fastest electric vehicle ever. Rolls-Royce has called its own creation as “a fantastic achievement”

A total of four hundred Kilowatt electric is attained by the aircraft which is equivalent to a 535 BPH supercar. The project is backed by the UK government. The project falls under the Accelerating the Electrification of Flight (ACCEL) project.

According to Rolls-Royce another milestone is achieved which will make the “jet zero” a reality. It will support their ambition of creating fuel alternatives that will decarbonize transport across air, land and sea. The technology that is being created for this purpose has more uses as well. The advanced battery and propulsion technology developed for this program has great applications for Advanced Air Mobility market.

Times have changed and more and more of the automobile industry is shifting towards the alternative sources of energy. Hope this shift and change do bring the expected changes.
