Samsung Brings FIFA World Cup Excitement to Galaxy Lock Screens

Samsung is bringing a fun new feature to Galaxy smartphone users ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The company has updated its Always-On Display (AOD) app with special football-themed animations that appear on the lock screen and Now Bar whenever important moments happen during a match.
The new feature is for football fans who want to stay connected to live match events without constantly opening sports apps. With the latest AOD update, Galaxy phones can now display animated celebrations for goals and other key moments directly on the lock screen.
Samsung Brings FIFA World Cup Excitement to Galaxy Lock Screens
Samsung recently introduced major improvements to the lock screen experience through One UI 8.5. These changes included colorful and dynamic clock designs that can automatically adjust around people and objects in wallpapers. Now, the company is expanding the experience by adding sports-focused animations tied to live football updates.
According to the latest update notes, Samsung has added new user interface animations for Google Sports updates. These animations are specifically designed for football matches and will appear when goals are scored or when important events, such as red cards, take place during a game.
One of the new animations features a festive goal celebration with confetti falling across the screen. Another animation shows a football striking the net after a goal is scored. Reports suggest that this animation may repeat several times to create a more exciting visual effect. Samsung has also included a red card animation that could appear when a player is sent off during a match.

These animations will appear in the Now Bar, a feature that provides live information on the lock screen and Always-On Display. Users who have the Now Bar enabled will be able to see these updates without unlocking their devices.
The timing of this update is significant because the FIFA World Cup 2026 is about to begin soon. The tournament will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, making it one of the biggest sporting events in the world. Samsung’s new feature aims to help fans follow key match moments more interactively.
To access these football-themed animations, Galaxy users should update the Always-On Display app through the Galaxy Store. After updating, they should ensure that the “Show Now Bar” option is enabled in the phone’s lock screen and AOD settings. Sports-related notifications from Google Discover must also be turned on for the feature to work properly.
Although the animations have been confirmed in the latest version of the AOD app, they may also become available on older Galaxy devices if they support the update. This means many Samsung users could enjoy the new World Cup experience regardless of whether they own the latest flagship phone.
With these additions, Samsung is transforming Galaxy smartphones into interactive companions for football fans, making it easier and more enjoyable to follow the excitement of the FIFA World Cup directly from the lock screen.
