Samsung Exynos 2700 Shows Impressive Performance Against Snapdragon Chips

Samsung next-generation Exynos 2700 processor has reportedly performed better than Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship Snapdragon chips in the company’s internal tests.

According to industry sources, Samsung recently compared the Exynos 2700 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. The Exynos chip reportedly achieved higher results in several important areas, including CPU, GPU, AI performance, and power efficiency.

If these results hold up in commercial devices, Samsung could increase the use of its own processors in the Galaxy S27 series next year.

Samsung Exynos 2700 Shows Impressive Performance Against Snapdragon Chips

The Exynos 2700 reportedly delivered a significant lead in CPU testing.

On the Geekbench 6.5 multicore benchmark, the chip scored around 19% higher than the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. It was also reportedly 9.5% faster than the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.

These results suggest that Samsung has made major improvements to its next-generation processor. However, benchmark results from internal testing should still be treated cautiously until independent testing becomes available.

GPU Performance Also Looks Promising

The Exynos 2700 reportedly performed particularly well in GPU tests.

At peak performance, Samsung’s chip was said to be around 5% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.

The difference became larger when the chips were tested under a 2.5-watt power limit. In that test, the Exynos 2700 reportedly outperformed the standard Snapdragon chip by 24% and the Pro version by 22%.

This could be important for smartphones because sustained performance is often limited by heat and power consumption. A chip that can deliver strong performance while using less power could offer better results during long gaming sessions.

AI Performance Gets a Boost

Samsung is also reportedly improving the Exynos 2700’s on-device AI capabilities.

In tests using the Llama 3.1 8B model, the Exynos 2700 generated responses about 18% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.

The chip also reportedly had a 5% advantage in prompt recognition and processing speed.

On-device AI is becoming increasingly important as smartphone manufacturers add more AI features that can run directly on phones without relying entirely on cloud servers.

Better Power Efficiency

Power consumption is another area where the Exynos 2700 reportedly has an advantage.

During a simulated real-world usage test, the Exynos processor consumed around 161 milliamperes. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro reportedly used 185 milliamperes under the same test conditions.

That represents roughly 12.7% lower power consumption for the Exynos chip. Better efficiency could translate into longer battery life and lower heat output in future Galaxy smartphones.

Built on Samsung’s 2nm Process

The Exynos 2700 is expected to be manufactured using Samsung Foundry’s second-generation 2nm process, known as SF2P.

Moving to a smaller manufacturing process can improve performance and efficiency while reducing heat generation. However, the actual benefits will depend on the final chip design and Samsung’s ability to achieve strong production yields.

This is an important factor for Samsung because manufacturing consistency can determine whether a chip is suitable for large-scale use across its smartphone lineup.

Galaxy S27 Could Use More Exynos Chips

Samsung could increase the share of Exynos processors in the Galaxy S27 series if the Exynos 2700 maintains its performance and production targets.

The company has traditionally used a mix of Exynos and Snapdragon processors in different Galaxy models and markets. A more competitive Exynos chip could give Samsung greater control over its hardware.

Cost is another major reason for this strategy. Samsung reportedly spent 7.44 trillion won, or around $5.34 billion, on mobile processors from Qualcomm, MediaTek, and other suppliers during the first half of this year.

Using more in-house processors could help Samsung reduce some component costs while also increasing demand for its System LSI and foundry businesses.

Exynos 2700 Could Be a Major Step for Samsung

The previous Exynos 2600 appeared in some Galaxy S26 models and the Galaxy Z Flip 8. The Exynos 2700 now appears to be aiming for a much stronger position.

The reported internal results are encouraging, especially in CPU, GPU, AI, and efficiency tests. However, these are Samsung’s internal results and have not yet been independently verified.

If the Exynos 2700 can deliver similar performance in commercial Galaxy devices, Samsung may have a stronger reason to rely on its own chips for the Galaxy S27 lineup.
