Samsung is planning to launch a foldable phone Galaxy F in early 2019. Everyone was excited to see the first foldable phone but it seems that all the expectations will go in vain. According to a new report, the smartphone’s most rumoured Samsung Foldable Galaxy F display has a big durability drawback.
Samsung Foldable Galaxy F will Opt for new transparent polyimide
Samsung’s foldable device also known as the Galaxy F will use the layer of toughened material on the front with the goal of protecting the display panel beneath. It is somewhat same as premium smartphones who have latest gorilla glass on the top of front panel.
However as Galaxy F will be foldable, this solution will not be applicable. Samsung will use a new transparent polyimide (PI) that will be supplied by Japanese company Sumitomo Chemical.
Transparent polyimide is less strong when compared to Gorilla Glass. However, as polyimide is of plastic nature, it will be more flexible and heat resistant. These are the most important feature when it comes to foldable phones.
Corning, the traditional supplier has developed a new solution for the foldable phones. It’s funny that after the announcement of gorilla they have realised that they are not ready to go with this technology, hence adopted transparent PI.
Manufacturing of Samsung’s first foldable Phone is still in progress, maybe the supplier of protective layer will further improve the solution to make it durable.
The device is rumoured to be released in January 2018, soon we will get the image of some final product before it enters manufacturing.
