Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: A Missed Opportunity for Qi2?

A Finnish mobile carrier, SuomiMobilii, has revealed details about the Galaxy S25 series, including storage options and compatible cases. Notably, the listing for the Galaxy S25 Ultra includes a magnetic case, suggesting that the phone itself may not have built-in magnets for Qi2 wireless charging.  

Qi2, the new wireless charging standard, utilizes magnets to ensure precise alignment and faster charging speeds. While the Galaxy S25 Ultra may support standard Qi wireless charging, the lack of built-in magnets could limit its compatibility with Qi2 accessories.  

This omission is surprising, as many other smartphone manufacturers are adopting Qi2 in their latest devices. By not fully embracing the new standard, Samsung may be missing out on an opportunity to offer a more versatile and future-proof charging experience for its flagship device.

However, it’s important to note that this is based on information from a single source and that the final specifications of the Galaxy S25 Ultra may differ. Samsung could still surprise us with a full implementation of Qi2, but for now, it seems that the company may be taking a more cautious approach.
