Samsung May Bring Privacy Display to All Galaxy S27 Models

Samsung is reportedly planning to introduce its Privacy Display feature across all four Galaxy S27 models. If the report is accurate, this will be a major upgrade because the feature was previously available only on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The move suggests that Samsung wants to make advanced privacy tools available to more users instead of limiting them to its most expensive smartphone.

Privacy Display is designed to protect sensitive information from people nearby. When the feature is turned on, it reduces the screen’s viewing angle. This means the person holding the phone can clearly see the display, while others looking from the side will find it difficult to read messages, notifications, or other private content. It is especially useful in public places such as buses, trains, airports, offices, and coffee shops.

According to the report, Samsung plans to include this feature in every Galaxy S27 model, including the standard version. This is surprising because Samsung often reserves premium features for its higher-end devices. In previous years, the base Galaxy models missed out on features like faster charging speeds and Ultra Wideband (UWB) support. Bringing Privacy Display to the entry-level Galaxy S27 would mark a noticeable change in the company’s strategy.

The report also states that Samsung had considered using display panels from BOE for the standard Galaxy S27 to reduce production costs. However, that plan reportedly did not move forward. Instead, Samsung Display will provide the screens for the device. This decision may have helped Samsung include the Privacy Display technology across the entire lineup.

The demand for privacy-focused smartphone features is expected to grow quickly. Market research suggests that around one million smartphones with Privacy Display technology were shipped in 2025, mostly for business users. The launch of the Galaxy S26 Ultra helped introduce the feature to the mainstream consumer market. Shipments of smartphones with this technology are now expected to increase significantly, reaching around 21 million units this year and 29 million units next year.

Samsung is not the only company working on better screen privacy. In the future, Privacy Display technology is also expected to appear on foldable smartphones. However, engineers still face technical challenges. The technology uses two types of pixels with different viewing angles. While this helps protect on-screen information, it can also reduce display brightness and resolution when the privacy mode is active. These limitations may also affect battery efficiency, so manufacturers are still working on improvements.
