Gone are days when FM was only present in old, feature phones. We cannot forget that a radio is hidden behind in all technicalities in phones. Among sensors, biometric scanners and motion cameras, FM receiver is also present which we have forgot from years now as most phones can’t use them. It seems now things are changing as Samsung is partnering with NextRadio to unlock FM chips in smartphones.

Both the companies announced the partnership today and also noted the importance of of FM radio in some areas beside the modern means of listening music.

NextRadio highlighted the importance of FM radio in areas damaged by natural calamities which wipes of the power of cell towers. In such area radio are the only option to receive information. So unlocking FM chips in news flagship devices is very important keeping in view such aspects of life.

NextRadio reveals that upcoming Samsung smartphones will be equipped with unlocked chip. Users with unlocked FM chips can download NextRadio’s app and tune into FM stations in their area.

However many tech geeks noted that their are several phones available in market having same capability. So people can also download the NextRadio App to check if their phone has unlocked FM chip.
