Samsung spent $11 billion on Marketing

The world’s mobile market is under rapid change from last decade, there have been major variations that one couldn’t close their eyes to.
First: Apple changed our perception of a smartphone
Secondly: Nokia has banged the market again with its LUMIA series
Lastly: Samsung started growing like a snowball compelled by thriving sales of its Galaxy S and Note flagship lineups.

According to The Korea Times, Samsung Electronics has spent a record-breaking $11 billion or 12.9 trillion won on marketing activities in 2012.

It also revealed that the giant has spent 1.15 trillion won on research and development in 2012, taking up 5.7 percent of its total sales. The figure was up 15.5 percent from a year earlier and 3.1 times what it spent seven years ago.

This indicates that Samsung is emphasizing on marketing to increase its share in smartphone market and improve the brand image.

Samsung is expected to increase its promotional spending again this year to solidify its leadership in the electronics and smartphone markets, and further improve its brand image
