Samsung’s AI Chips May Defeat its Competitors in Second Half of 2018

Currently, Samsung is struggling so hard to attain high position in the market because it lags behind Apple and Huawei, who are its biggest competitors in this sphere. Both Apple and Huawei have already introduced devices with NPUs. Last year Apple released the iPhone X with an NPU. Huawei has released Mate 10 Pro with an NPU. Samsung’s AI Chips May Defeat its Competitors in Second Half of 2018.

In major upcoming smartphones of Samsung would have AI chips and that could make different its handsets from its competitors. Samsung’s chips are already capable of more operations per second than Apple and Huawei.

It seems that Samsung is likely to reveal the capabilities of its new AI tech with the launch of the Galaxy S9 on February 25 at MWC 2018.

According to The Korea Herald:

Samsung is said to be on the verge of completing its first neural processing units (NPUs), also known as AI chips. Samsung has already reached the technological levels of Apple and Huawei, but will come up with better chips for sure in the second half of the year.”

To make more secure and efficient chips compared to others on the market, Samsung has partnered with professors and researchers from various South Korea universities. Samsung is going to invest heavily in AI-related projects.
