Facebook said in a statement:

People want to see accurate information on Facebook, and so do we

In coming weeks, we will see less misleading video on Facebook. Facebook is striving hard for some years to grow a platform’s volume of videos which asks for higher prices from advertisers.

Facebook further explained:

“During the coming weeks we will begin demoting stories that feature fake video play buttons and static images disguised as videos in News Feed.” People want to see accurate information on Facebook, and so do we” the company also asserted.

Facebook has started fake news campaign after it was blamed for spreading misleading content. The company is planning to push this update across the globe in coming weeks.
