Senate IT Committee Summons Ministry Over Pak DataCom CEO Brig. (R) Zulfiqar’s Harassment Allegations

The Senate Standing Committee on IT and Telecom summoned officials from the Ministry of IT after Brigadier (R) Zulfiqar, CEO of Pak DataCom, appeared before the committee with allegations of harassment and board misconduct.
Brig. (R) Zulfiqar told the committee that he was forcibly sent on leave by the company’s board chairman, Zoom Mohi-ud-Din, and claimed that the Ministry of IT had been involved in these decisions. “I have come to this high forum seeking justice,” he said during the session.
The CEO, who has a distinguished military background, highlighted his efforts in elevating Pak DataCom to the second spot among the 16 listed IT companies in Pakistan. He alleged that certain elements within the company were reinstated despite his objections and that he had been threatened to comply with these demands.
“I have never been threatened or humiliated during my entire military service, yet I was forced on leave and demeaned as CEO,” Brig. (R) Zulfiqar stated.
The committee questioned ministry officials about the rationale behind sending him on leave and requested a detailed explanation of the board and ministry’s role in the matter. Senator Afnan Ullah emphasized that the ministry must respond to the CEO’s allegations and ensure accountability.
Ministry of IT officials responded that they required additional time to compile a full briefing and assured the committee that a detailed report would be presented at the next session.
The committee chairperson concluded the meeting by formally requesting the ministry to provide a comprehensive briefing in the upcoming session, signaling that the issue will remain under parliamentary scrutiny.
