Senate Secretariat Moves Towards Paperless Operations with E-Office System

The Senate Secretariat has initiated a comprehensive digitalization drive aimed at transitioning towards paperless operations, following directives issued by the Chairman of the Senate. The move includes the planned rollout of an e-Office system to modernize internal workflows and parliamentary processes.
Officials said the initiative is being implemented with technical support from the National Information Technology Board (NITB). Once operational, the e-Office system will be used for handling official files, summaries, and internal correspondence, replacing manual processes with a fully digital workflow.
As part of the reforms, the Senate Secretariat has also decided to introduce a dedicated mobile application for senators. The app will provide real-time access to session agendas, meeting schedules, and other parliamentary updates, enabling lawmakers to remain informed and prepared.
To support the transition, digital training of Senate Secretariat staff has commenced in collaboration with NITB. According to officials, the e-Office system will be implemented in phases after the completion of training to ensure a smooth and effective shift to digital operations.
The digital reforms are aligned with the broader Digital Pakistan agenda. Officials believe the initiative will enhance transparency, improve efficiency, and accelerate the conduct of parliamentary business by reducing delays associated with manual procedures.
