Sindh also Asks Government to Ban Careem and Uber

As we informed our readers earlier today that Punjab Government Bans Uber and Careem in Lahore now Sindh also Asks Government to Ban Careem and Uber. Sindh govt. asked for this ban on the basis that these App based taxis in the province don’t have legal permit with them.

The Government of Sindh had declared the use of Uber and Careem as “illegal” and has requested Provincial Transport Authority (PTA) to take mandatory step and ban them in Sindh.

Sindh also Asks Government to Ban Careem and Uber

Sindh Secretary Transport Tuaha Farooqui explained the reason and said that:

“There are three types of NOCs which the management of Careem and Uber had to obtain. When private cars are used as commercial vehicles they have to pay Rs. 160 annually to the Excise and Taxation department. However, they are not required to change their number plates.”

He also said that:

“The management of the two companies have to get themselves registered with the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and also need to get fitness certificate from them. Once these requirements are fulfilled, he said that they can operate freely.”

Now the government of Sindh has asked the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to come forward and block these Applications in Pakistan.

Up till now, we haven’t heard any reply from the management of either Careem or Uber.
