Sindh Govt Puts Ban on Internet Cafés without Proper Video Surveillance System
Sindh government has imposed a ban on internet cafes that are functioning without appropriate video supervision and recording systems. The government has put this ban under Section 144 (6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Surely it will lead to the effective check and balance system on cafes in Pakistan.

Internet cafes having proper video supervision and recording systems will be required to keep their records for one year. Furthermore, to have copies of all users’ Computerized National Identity Cards will be compulsory for all internet cafe owners. They will also be required to keep the recording of their cabin numbers and usage time.
The Government has put this ban under Section 144 (6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure
On the other hand, SHOs have also been accredited to file complaints. They have been authorized to register complaints under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code in writing over the violation of Section 144 against internet cafes working without surveillance systems and not keeping proper records.

For those cafes working without proper video surveillance systems no complaint will be filed against them. SHOs will first issue a formal notice to the cafe operator. The notice will have a 15 days time period. If the cafe operator doesn’t install a proper video surveillance and recording system in the given time period then action will be taken against them.
