Skype Highlights Feature Dropped To Focus On Chats, Calls & Contacts

Skype is set to recommit itself to phone calls, video chats and messages. As a result, it dropped the Highlights feature. They removed the Highlights and Capture from the user interface and introduced three buttons at the bottom of the app, Chats, Calls, and Contacts. Skype Highlights feature was similar to Stories on Instagram and Snapchat. They removed the feature to focus on calls and chats.

Skype Highlights feature didn’t Resonate With Majority of Users

The one basic reason told by the Skype behind decluttering the user interface is that:
“It didn’t resonate with a majority of users”

The users who have used Highlights will be able to download all of the posts they put up on the site until September 30th. Peter Skillman, Skype’s director of design, further revealed that the users can expect more updates to Skype over the next several months. Their main focus will be on calls, chat, and contacts.

Peter Skillman, Skype’s director of design said that:
“We are passionate about bringing you closer to the people in your life”
The new UI is available on version 8.29 for both the Android and iOS variants of Skype. You can find it in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Peter Skillman, Skype’s director of design stated that:
In addition to this, Microsoft has launched a new website called Skype Ideas where you can submit your ideas for the Skype app. Your ideas will be get listed on the site and the community members will be able to vote on them.
