Snapchat has announced that now all users will be able to discover and unlock thousands of user-generated Lenses built by the Snapchat community with “Lens Explorer.” This marks the first time that Community Lenses invoked by tapping the new icon that appears when the Lens Carousel is active.
Snapchat Gets Lens Explorer
Community Lenses can be built with the help of Lens Studio that was launched in 2017. Snap said that over 100,000 unique Lenses have been submitted which have been viewed over 2.5 billion times by users. With the launch of Lens Explorer it hopes that Snap will boost the viewing figure. In a result it will make easier for users to apply community Lenses and will be able to share their pictures with friends
Explaining how to select Lenses, Snap said:
“Tap a Lens tile to unlock a Lens and be taken directly to the Snap Camera, or browse Lenses in featured Stories. Unlock a Lens by swiping up on Snaps in these Stories.”
Daily 70 million users are active using Snapchat Lenses, they spend an average of about three minutes playing around with them per day.
The Lens Explorer will be available on iOS at the time of launch but didn’t confirm whether Android would get the new feature just yet.
