Blue Whale Saga: Snapchat Video Saves a kidnapped Pakistani Boy

Three college students of Lahore, Pakistan were accused of kidnapping their fellow to play Blue Whale game. They gave him some tasks to fulfill and further made videos of him. These videos of kidnapping were posted on Snapchat. Blue Whale Saga: Snapchat Video Saves a kidnapped Pakistani Boy.

The Fedral Investigation Agency (FIA) detected this dangerous activity on Snapchat and reported to Government of Pakistan. FIA also arrested three suspects for playing Blue Whale game who confessed to kidnapped their fellow.

Interpol wrote a letter to share the information with Government of Pakistan. Ministry of Interior asked to arrest the suspect.

These college students told officials that they were playing Blue Whale games for fun. Even the kidnapped boy said that all these videos posted on Snapchat was fun. However Snapchat videos shows that kidnapped boy was very terrified.

The three suspects told that they had tied the hands and feet of the kidnapped youth, taped his mouth shut and released their video on Snapchat. On investigation four boys from Johar Town, Lahore revealed that they were not playing Blue Whale game.

The teenagers were playing a game called ‘Snapshot

The teenagers were playing a game called ‘Snapshot’. The game revolves around users challenging each other to different tasks and setting bets. In this game teenagers had challenged their friend to rescue himself after tying him up.

On an interview to GEO News, these kids apologized for their actions and promised not to repeat such mistake in future again. Parents should be extra vigilant and should keep on checking on their children to avoid such circumstances.

Here one should praise FIA and Snapchat for taking actions and informing Pakistan Government on time. Faced with such scenarios, it is extremely important to train children to understand online risks, making media literacy extremely important. Such games can influence their behavior and if left unmonitored can lead to depression, self image issues or aggression. So it is the right times to taught them to critically approach any online content in order to avoid from such drastic games.
