Snapdragon 680 Appears on Geekbench

Recently, Qualcomm has launched the Snapdragon 710 which is an updated version of the Snapdragon 660 SoC. In the all new Snapdragon 700 series the Snapdragon 710 is the first SoC . However, a mysterious Snapdragon 680 SoC has also been found listed on Geekbench.

The Qualcomm’s test device which has run the unannounced Snapdragon 680 mobile platform showed that in single-core and multi-core tests, the test device has scored 1940 and 5153 points. On the test device, the SD680 chip is supported by 6 GB of RAM. Moreover, the chip runs on Android 8.1 Oreo.

Snapdragon 680 Spotted on Geekbench

The tests and scores suggest that the Snapdragon 680 sits between Snapdragon 710, Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 630. The CPU is listed as having six cores, which is likely a 2 + 4 configuration.

The Geekbench listing also indicates that the SD680 is a hexa-core SoC which is clocked at 2.15 GHz. The Snapdragon 680 seems to be the second hexa-core SoC in the Snapdragon 600 lineup after the Snapdragon 650. The single-core score of the Snapdragon 680 is almost similar to SD835 SoC which was powered by flagship phones in 2017. It indicates that the Snapdragon 680 is a powerful chipset which is designed for upper mid-range smartphones.

Like the SD660 the Snapdragon 680 chipset could be 14nm SoC. However, there is no news on when Qualcomm will be launching the mysterious SoC.
