Qualcomm hasn’t rushed its quad-core hardware. The company has taken its sweet time perfecting, developing and tweaking it and now it seems as if all of its hard work has come to fruition. Benchmarks for the developer version of its Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset have shown the new architecture to be light-years ahead of the competition and it will raise the SoC Bar forever! Qualcomm’s next generation mobile SoC is definitely something we’re looking forward to seeing in the future.

Without getting too technical here the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 developer tablet kit contains a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and is running on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. This 10.1-inch display running a 1366 x 768 resolution is going to be put through its paces but for now here’s a quick glance at a few of the popular Android benchmark apps. Quadrant blew through the roof posting numbers nearing 8000, and AnTuTu clearly was ahead of the other quad-core options. That’s hardly a scientific measurement, but Qualcomm reminded us that the Snapdragon S4 Pro’s asynchronous cores are design to manage workloads intelligently; individual cores will shut themselves off when necessary, to give users a bit of extra juice.

The chipset maker held a private event, which talked about understanding benchmarks first and foremost, but not to overshadow our hands-on time with the new S4 Pro (APQ8064). The event was filled with interesting details into the world of benchmarks and SoC architectures, which some at some points danced on the boring side but nonetheless proves that Qualcomm has its bases covered.

People really like what Qualcomm is doing and can’t wait to see devices running the new Snapdragon S4 Pro, as it’s sure to be a hit! The S4 Pro will breed new competition that will only produce faster and powerful processors from Qualcomm and others, which will only benefit the consumer.
