Social Media Apps Dominate November Downloads

Social media apps continued to dominate the app download charts in November 2024, with Instagram and TikTok leading the pack.

According to Appfigures, Instagram emerged as the most downloaded app across both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, amassing a total of 53 million downloads. TikTok closely followed with 45 million downloads, solidifying its position as one of the most popular social media platforms globally.

WhatsApp secured the third spot with 44 million downloads, while Facebook and ChatGPT rounded out the top five. Other notable apps in the top ten include Threads, Temu, Telegram, Capcut, and Snapchat.

Platform-Specific Trends

• iOS: Threads emerged as the top-downloaded app on the App Store, surpassing TikTok and ChatGPT. This indicates the strong appeal of Meta’s text-based social media platform among iOS users.
• Android: Instagram dominated the Google Play Store, followed by WhatsApp and TikTok. Google Maps and Google also saw significant growth in downloads, highlighting the increasing reliance on Google’s suite of apps.
