Sony Set to Launch a New Xperia Phone Next Week
Sony has confirmed that it will introduce a new Xperia smartphone on August 25. Recent leaks suggest the Xperia 10 VIII could be the device making its debut.
Sony is preparing to expand its Xperia smartphone lineup with a new device next week. Sony has announced a launch event for Tuesday, August 25, where it is expected to unveil a new Xperia phone.
The event will be streamed live on YouTube. Sony has scheduled the announcement for 11 AM Japan time, which means European viewers will see it at around 4 AM CEST on August 26.
Sony Set to Launch a New Xperia Phone Next Week
The company has not revealed the name of the upcoming smartphone. However, recent leaks point toward the Xperia 10 VIII, also known by its model number MK8.
The phone is expected to succeed the Xperia 10 VII, which launched in September last year. If the leaks are accurate, Sony could introduce its new mid-range Xperia model almost a month earlier this year.
The Xperia 10 VIII could continue Sony’s approach of offering a relatively affordable phone with a focus on battery life, everyday performance, and the company’s familiar Xperia design.
Same Chipset as the Previous Model
A recent Geekbench listing has provided some early information about the upcoming device. According to the benchmark result, the Xperia 10 VIII could use the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset.
Interestingly, this is the same processor used in the Xperia 10 VII. If confirmed, Sony may choose to keep the same platform rather than move to a newer chipset for this generation.
The Geekbench appearance does not reveal the complete specifications of the phone. Details about its display, cameras, battery, and storage options are still limited.

Sony Keeps the Phone Details Secret
Sony has so far avoided confirming which Xperia model will be unveiled at the event. The company has only announced that a new Xperia device is coming.
