KPK Govt Urges to Remove 19.5% Tax on Mobile Broadband

The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) after many requests from the digital community has finally called the KPITB MD, Mr. Sheryar Khan to submit proposals on the matter so that it can remove 19.5% Tax on Mobile Broadband (MBB). Before this, in Jan 2016, the digital publishers demanded the KPK Govt to Remove 19.5% Tax on Mobile Broadband and data services to give relief to mobile phone users of the province same as the Punjab and Sindh Govt did and withdrew 19.5% GST.

The announcement has be made yesterday by the Additional Secretary of the Province Mr. Azam Khan and requested the MD of KPITB to submit proposals within one week. After submission of proposals, it will be presented to the Chief Miniter of the province Pervaiz Khattak for final approval.

As “Taxation”, be it on smartphones or internet services, severely effects the growth of digital transformation in any country. So if the province successfully removes 19.5% GST on Mobile Broadband (MBB) then it will be a very good step as it it will help in digitization of entire process and the country at large.
