TECNO Shows Off Bezel-Less Concept Phone at IFA 2026

TECNO is bringing back the idea of phones with almost no display bezels. At IFA Berlin 2026, TECNO showcased its new bezel-less concept phone, giving visitors a chance to see and hold the device in person.

At first glance, the phone appears to have no black borders around the display. However, the design is more complex than simply making the bezels thinner. Tecno has used a wider metal frame and a special glass construction to hide the areas around the display.

The phone uses a dual-layer cover glass. The lower section of the glass curves around the middle frame and covers the inactive parts of the screen. This helps create the appearance of a display that reaches all the way to the edges.

TECNO also had to change how the phone is assembled. Instead of installing the screen from the front like a conventional smartphone, the display module is inserted from the back. A special hot-melt adhesive is then used to secure the second layer of cover glass from the front.

The result is impressive when using the phone. Apps, menus and other content appear to stretch from edge to edge. This gives the screen a more immersive look compared with conventional smartphones that still have visible borders.

However, the concept is not completely free of bezels. Some small black sections can still be seen around the lower edges of the display. This is understandable since the device is still a concept and the technology is likely not ready for mass production in its current form.

Tecno says the 0mm bezel design was achieved through a combination of new internal stacking methods, structural changes, and updated screen packaging. The company also had to make changes to touch sensitivity and the user interface because there is almost no traditional bezel area where users can rest their fingers.

The concept phone features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Despite its unusual screen design, the device feels relatively thin and light. Its overall design appears to share similarities with the recently introduced Tecno Camon Slim.

For now, TECNO has not confirmed when this technology will appear on a commercial smartphone. However, the company’s work on touch controls, screen construction, and internal design suggests that the technology could eventually make its way into future flagship devices.

The bezel-less concept shows that smartphone makers are still looking for ways to make displays more immersive. If TECNO can overcome the remaining design and manufacturing challenges, phones with truly edge-to-edge screens could become more common in the future.
