Telecom Imports Increases to $333.01 mn in Q1 FY 2017-18

The overall telecom products imports grew to $333.701 million in the first quarter of current fiscal year. The figure shows that the telecom imports have rises to 22 percent as compared to last year. Telecom Imports Increases to $333.01 mn in Q1 FY 2017-18.

Pakistan Bureau of Statistics revealed that telecom imports have seen growth of $59.806 million during July-September of FY 2017-18. This figure was $273.895 million in JulySeptember of FY 2016-17.

During September 2017, telecom imports witnesses downfall of 0.43 percent i.e; $0.448 million to $102.781 million from $103.229 million in Sept 2016. Import of mobile phone handsets increased to $191 million during Q1 of this fiscal year from  $146.566 million in July-Sept last fiscal year, up by 30.18 percent or $44.229 million.

Pakistan imported $61.403 million mobile phones in September 2017 as compared to $53.895 in September 2016. This shows that mobile phone imports witnessed growth of 14 percent.

The data also revealed that the overall merchandise imports during the first month of the current fiscal year (July 2017) increased by 36.74 percent compared to July 2016. The imports into the country during July 2017 were  $4.835 billion as compared to the imports of $3.536 billion.
