Telegram App Update Adds Encrypted Voice Calling Feature

The company said:

“Over the past few months, we’ve worked hard to make sure Telegram calls are the best in terms of quality, speed, and security. The wait is over: today we’re rolling out Voice Calls in Western Europe”

No doubt, many other apps like WhatsApp, Viber, Facebook Messenger has launched this feature quite a long time ago. Telegram is late to launch this feature. But the reason behind this delay is that same as its messages, the voice calls will also get the end-to-end encryption.

Company said in a blog post:

“Telegram Calls are built upon the time-tested end-to-end encryption of Telegram’s Secret Chats.”

Telegram users can also check the encryption of their calls by setting a key. They can make four emojis as their key and after comparing the key, their call will be encrypted. However, according to company:

“To make sure your call is 100% secure, you and your recipient just need to compare four emoji over the phone. No lengthy codes or complicated pictures!”

Telegram used artificial intelligence to optimise the call quality on an ongoing basis. Moreover, Telegram adjust the quality of the call based on the stability of the connection.

Along with this feature, Telegram has another feature in its update unrelated to Voice Call. It now allows you to select the degree of compression in a video you want to send to someone.
