Third World Internet Conference Inaugurates in China. The 3rd World Internet Conference (WIC) opened in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province of China. The Conference is from November 16 to 18, 2016. It will feature over 20 summits and exhibitions.

The World Internet Conference also known as Wuzhen Summit is an annual event that was first held in 2014. It is organized by government agencies in China to deliberate Internet issues and policy.

Every year the Summit has a different theme. This year’s theme is “Innovation-driven Internet Development for the Benefit of All- Building a Community of Common Future in Cyberspace”.

Chinese President Xi Jinping send a congratulatory note on the opening of the conference. He extended his warmest congratulations to the conference and cordial greetings to all the participants.

Internet is the most vibrant sector. Its fast development has brought reflective changes to our life and work in addition to new openings and challenges to human society.

The Chinese president said,

“At last year’s WIC I put forward four principles and 5 proposals on global development and governance of the Internet. They have been well received in the world.”

He further added that China will work together with the international community to guarantee the common welfare of humanity, sustain cyber dominance and stimulate more fair and impartial global Internet governance.

He said that,

“I hope through the meeting of minds, we will achieve more consensus, enhance cooperation and enable the Internet to deliver greater benefits to mankind.”
