ISIS is a well-known terrorist organization. They are operating in Iraq, Syria and other middle eastern states. A social media monitoring agency has reported that this militia is trying to use social media platforms. Tik Tok is its most recent victim. This has also been confirmed by Wall Street journal.

Tik Tok app has different features. Like short music and dance videos, mimicry, funny and infotainment content. It is a Chinese app that has earned immense fame in the recent times. But it has been unable to put firewalls and other security barriers for this kind of exploitation by any terrorist regime. For example, Facebook and Google give a database of identified terrorist allegory. And then it can be removed spontaneously.

Now, we will analyze the purposes. For which ISIS tried to exploit the social media app Tik Tok. The first reason is surely related to the inclusion of people in their organization. They have been previously alleged of using social media platforms for recruitment. The other reason is to mobilize the masses against the true governments. By displaying that ISIS fighters have been suppressed and fighting for the freedom. They had been uploading videos of the corpses of their fighters. And armed combatants who call themselves ‘jihadists and proud’. So, clearly propagating a propaganda.

The monitoring agency Storyful has informed that one video of the group has earned 68 likes. And some accounts had 1000 followers.

As, there are clear set of rules and regulations in Tik Tok. They prohibit any extremist organization from using the platform. Therefore, they took an action against two dozen accounts that were alleged. For the future course, it might be suggested that Tik Tok must take certain pre-emptive steps to block such content.
