TikTok is a social video app that allows you to record yourself with lip-synching to popular music videos. You can share these clips with friends. According to the reports, the app has just surpassed 1 billion downloads on iOS and Android.
The new figures from data insights firm Sensor Tower have highlighted that TikTok is now beating Facebook in downloading.
TikTok Beats Facebook with 1 Billion Downloads
Sensor Tower founder Oliver Yeh said in a blog post:
“Approximately 663 million of these installs occurred in 2018, To put this into perspective, the Facebook app was installed an estimated 711 million times last year and Instagram saw about 444 million new downloads.”
No doubt, Facebook is globally more famous but TikTok is a giant in the social media space, especially in Asia. The Chinese company ByteDance, has developed the app and now this app is giving the company to compete with the country’s biggest tech companies.
However, the number of downloads revealed only points to how many times the app has been downloaded, but not how many of these users stick around and stay active.
The app is more popular among teenagers. The company has also mentioned on its website that TikTok was one of the most downloaded apps in the world in 2018.
