During the past few years Twitter has faced pressure and criticism for having very less diversity in their board of directors. Previously, the board ranks were largely composed of white male members. Responding to the criticism, Twitter added Marjorie Scardino, the company’s first woman director and Omid Kordestani, an Iranian American. Both of them joined Twitter last year.
Twitter Announces to Hire New Directors
To bring more changes, Jack Dorsey an American programmer and entrepreneur widely known as a co-founder and CEO of Twitter has changed Twitter’s social media service, executive ranks and board of directors. He became chief executive of the company last year. Recently, he brought some major changes with new appointments and departures to the board of directors.
Twitter came up with the news that their longtime directors, Peter Currie and Peter Chernin, would not be considered for re-election this year. They will be replaced by Hugh Johnston and Martha Lane Fox.
Hugh Johnston is the vice chairman and chief financial officer of PepsiCo, while Martha Lane Fox, an entrepreneur who has run Internet businesses. The Twitter’s board by mutual consent has planned to pick eight people after Currie and Chernin tenure.
For the future development, twitter has also hinted to come up with more board changes.
