Twitter Bug on Android is Exposing Private Tweets

With the ever-growing use of the Internet and growing social media platforms, we are not more informed and at the same time more connected. However, with growing connectivity, privacy concerns are also growing. On and off we come across security bugs that in such apps that are destroying user’s privacy. Yesterday we came to know about WhatsApp bug that was showing someones’ private message to a girl in chat and was also deleting messages without letting users know. We were still in the trauma that we are exposed to a Twitter bug on Android.

So some time back, people had reported that Twitter is exposing private tweets of users to others. At that time company had not commented on this. But know, strangely, Twitter has admitted that they have finally discovered a bug that was exposing people’s private tweets since  November 3, 2014. Like seriously? It took the company the whole five years to find that bug. ThankGod the issue is not present on iOS version of Twitter.  So if you people have iPhone you are safe!

When someone makes changes in the account, this Twitter bug would actually disable the “Protect your Tweets” setting. Even if you had protected your tweets in your settings but later on made some change in your account settings then this option would have been disabled and your tweets would be exposed to unknown people.

The social media platform, Twitter revealed that this bug is fixed now and the people who were affected due to this bug are also informed now that their tweets are saved and “Protect your Tweets” feature enabled again if it was disabled.

On the other hand, users should also check if this option is enabled or not for safe side.
