Twitter gives it’s users a variety of tools and features to express themselves on their platforms and enjoy themselves by using new tools. As in Oct. 2017, what Twitter did was that it temporarily locked McGowan out of her account since she posted a private phone number in her tweet. And in Sep. 2017, Twitter has blocked 300,00 Accounts on suspected terrorism.

Now Twitter will inform users when they access any blocked tweets or accounts. It will now tell users by displaying messages that blocked tweets have been withheld in accordance with local laws or court  orders, which it calls Country Withheld Content (CWC). The public is already informed about CWC through notices sent directly to affected accounts.

The new interstitials will give all the information to the users when they try to access blocked tweets or accounts.

Jeremy Kessel, Global Legal Policy Director at Twitter wrote in a blog post:

We are updating our in-product messaging when we withhold content to clarify why content was withheld and where,”

Nazi symbols in Germany is one example of CWC, where they are prohibited. They will now see one of two messages, when they click on CWC, that tweets blocked due to court orders and other legal requests.
