Uber Starts its Services in Karachi

Uber Starts its Services in Karachi and offered free rides till 28th August, 2016. Uber, the American application based taxi service, has landed in Pakistan during this year.  In March, 2016 Uber stepped into Pakistan by launching its services in Lahore.

Uber on its official website said that:

“We are thrilled to announce uberGO is now available in Karachi, which means getting around your city has never been easier. You can now request a safe, reliable and affordable ride at the tap of a button. To celebrate our newest city, you can enjoy Uber for free this weekend, just open your Uber app and enter the promo code ‘KarachiFREE’ to enjoy five free rides up to Rs300 each”.

Fare Details:

  • Rs. 150 on its go services with a charge of around Rs. 9.38P/KM and Rs. 2 P/M
  • Uber is also offering a split fare service for riders who share a cab
  • Riders can split the expense on multiple credit cards for a single journey

Amna Asim, Uber’s marketing manager for Pakistan, said the company was also considering hiring female drivers:

“If females can drive cabs in Cairo then why not in Pakistan. The company has had its share of controversy, but Asim said the company was making the necessary checks to ensure smoother operations.”

Uber has also recently announced that after relying on Google Maps for few years, it has finally decided to completely end the use of google maps and design its own digital mapping system.
