Ufone steps up to support the unsung heroes of Pakistan

Pakistan is suffering from the weight of the coronavirus pandemic, and no one seems to know just how long the global health crisis will persist. Apart from the health staff, security forces, especially the police, have played a very important role during the crisis. They are deployed in lockdown areas under scorching heat, and are heavily under-resourced as well. They struggle to ensure compliance with public health restrictions—such as lockdowns and social distancing yet continue to perform their duties with resilience.

Deployment in lockdown areas have raised many problems, since these locations do not fall under their regular duty areas thus there is no proper setup for the police. There are no shades or umbrellas, no arrangement of water dispensers etc.  Police officers also face personal health risks due to their proximity to infected persons.

More than 1000 police officers have been infected so far. In a situation, where they are fighting so many battles all at once, it is important to acknowledge their efforts and help them in the best possible way. Recently Pakistani telecom brand Ufone made an effort to facilitate police officers who are working under such adverse conditions by distributing water bottles and juices.

The activity gained a lot of traction on social media and people loved the gesture by the telecom operator. Many people shared that police officers are the unsung heroes of our nation and stressed that every brand should step up to help our front line workers. Such efforts help us to realize that the Pakistani nation is full of love for its heroes and can never let their efforts go to waste. People lauded the front line heroes and showed resolve to help them as much as they can.
