Upcoming iPhones Might have Slower Data Transfer Speed

Upcoming iPhones Might have Slower Data Transfer Speed. According to MacRumors, Intel will be the exclusive supplier of modem for all the new iPhones launching later this year. It means next iPhones will not be powered by Qualcomm chipsets. It means that new iPhones might have potentially slower data transfer speeds.

Upcoming iPhones Might have Slower Data Transfer Speed

From start to iPhone 7, Qualcomm was the exclusive supplier for baseband modem chips for the iPhone. When iPhone 7 was launched some devices were launched with Intel modems however some came with Qualcomm.

When both were compared a difference was found in a download speed. The iPhnoes with Qualcomm modems were capable of much faster theoretical download speeds. PCMag found same results for iPhone X with Qualcomm equipped iPhones performing better than those compared with Intel chips.

So i conclude that Qualcomm modems are better because they provide faster download speeds. Intel modems are not as good as Qualcomm’s one but if Apple only use Intel modems leaving Qualcomm behind, iPhone users will really suffer a lot.

However Apple has announced that this year new iPhone will be more fast than the previous ones. There are rumors that new iPhones will make the leap to 4×4 MIMO antennas as compared to current antennas which are 2X2 MIMO.

Lets see how Apple will mange the fast speed it promised with users.
