Users Might Experience a Major Crash in Internet Service During Next 48 Hours

Internet users may experience the connection failures for the next 48 hours. The Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will temporarily be powered down main domain servers and related infrastructure. This Major Crash in Internet Service will affect all the major services including Google, Facebook, and Twitter.
The main reason behind this major internet crash is that ICANN needs to change the cryptographic key that helps to protect the Domain Name System (DNS).

Major Crash in Internet Service During Next 48 Hours will be For Maintenance Purpose

According to the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA):

“It’s an important measure to ensure a secure, stable, and resilient DNS”

No doubt, billions of users will be affected. Users might face some difficulties while accessing web pages and online services by the important maintenance work of ICANN. Moreover, users will face slow loading of the Internet pages as compared to normal speeds.
David Conrad, ICANN‘s Chief Technology Officer, said:

It is almost certain there will be at least a few operators somewhere across the globe who won’t be prepared, but even in the worst case, all they have to do to fix the problem is, turn off DNSSECvalidation, install the new key, and reenable DNSSEC and their users will again have full connectivity to the DNS.’

To maintain security and safeguard worldwide web against increasing threats for the internet, the process of changing cryptographic keys is very important.
