VGO TEL Takes Lead as Pakistan’s Leading Mobile Phone Assembler in 2026

Pakistan’s mobile phone manufacturing and assembly sector continued its robust growth trajectory during the first five months of 2026, with VGO TEL emerging as the country’s leading handset assembler, according to the latest industry data.

Between January and May 2026, VGO TEL assembled 1.71 million mobile phones, surpassing established market leaders and securing the top position in local production volumes. The performance reflects a significant shift in Pakistan’s mobile manufacturing landscape, where competition among local and international brands has intensified amid rising demand for locally assembled devices.

Infinix, which had maintained market leadership in recent years, ranked second with 1.08 million units assembled during the period. TECNO followed with 770,000 units, narrowly ahead of Itel, which produced 760,000 handsets. Samsung secured fifth place with 720,000 units, while Vivo assembled 670,000 devices.

Other notable contributors to local handset production included Nokia with 550,000 units, X Mobile with 480,000 units, OPPO with 410,000 units, and Club Mobile with 400,000 units. Together, these brands highlight the growing diversity and competitiveness of Pakistan’s mobile phone manufacturing ecosystem.

Industry analysts attribute the sector’s continued expansion to the government’s Mobile Device Manufacturing Policy and broader import substitution strategy, which have encouraged local assembly while reducing dependence on imported finished devices. Chinese brands and locally marketed manufacturers have particularly benefited from these initiatives, strengthening their presence in the domestic market.

The latest figures also indicate changing market dynamics compared to previous years. In 2025, Infinix remained Pakistan’s largest locally assembled mobile phone brand, producing 3.65 million units, only slightly ahead of VGO TEL’s 3.57 million units. Vivo ranked third with 2.60 million handsets, followed by Itel at 2.34 million units and Samsung at 1.85 million units.

During the same year, TECNO assembled 1.84 million devices, while Redmi produced 1.38 million units. G Mobile, Realme, and OPPO completed the list of top-performing brands with production volumes of 1.11 million, 1.06 million, and 1.01 million units, respectively.

Looking further back, the competitive landscape in 2024 was led by Infinix with 3.98 million units, followed by Itel at 3.64 million and VGO TEL at 3.37 million units. TECNO assembled 2.85 million handsets, while Vivo produced 2.77 million units during the year.

The rise of VGO TEL to the top position in 2026 underscores the rapid evolution of Pakistan’s mobile manufacturing sector. As local production capacity expands and consumer demand continues to grow, industry stakeholders expect further competition among brands seeking to strengthen their foothold in one of the region’s fastest-growing smartphone markets.

With government support, increasing localization, and sustained investment in manufacturing facilities, Pakistan’s mobile device industry is poised to play an increasingly important role in the country’s technology and industrial development agenda.
