Viber Launches Secret Chats with a self-destructive timer

When all the popular messaging apps are in a race to beat each other, Viber also took part in that race by launching its new feature. Just to beat its rival, WhatsApp, Viber Launches Secret Chats with a self-destructive timer. Now do more secure chats with your friends with this feature.

With this feature, users can set a self-destructive timer. All the chats under this timer will be automatically deleted. Not only this, Messages in a secret chat can’t be forwarded. Moreover, screenshots are either totally unavailable or alerted to users by an instant notification in the chat screen.

Not only this, users can have two conversations going with the same person or group at the same time. One of them will be regular chat and other one will be secret chat.

Viber said in a blog post:

You can have two conversations going with the same person or group at the same time – one regular chat and one secret chat. You’ll know which one of them is secret by the lock badge on the chat icon. Starting a secret chat from an existing regular chat will not delete or replace the regular chat, it will just start a separate one.

Here is how this feature will work:

Recently, Viber has introduced timer feature for photos and videos. It means after a specific time, all photos and videos will be deleted. Moreover, A picture can be sent to friend with a view time of 1 , 3 , 7 or 10 seconds. When the time is up, recipient gets a record that something was shared by you but they cannot view it.
