Vivo X500 Ultra Leak Hints at Major Upgrades for 35mm and 85mm Zeiss Cameras

Vivo is already working on the successor to its highly rated X300 Ultra, and a new leak suggests the upcoming Vivo X500 Ultra could bring notable improvements to its camera system. While the phone is still in the prototype stage, multiple hardware options are reportedly being tested before Vivo makes a final decision.
The information comes from reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, who claims the company is evaluating different camera configurations for its next flagship.
Vivo X500 Ultra Leak Hints at Major Upgrades for 35mm and 85mm Zeiss Cameras
The Vivo X300 Ultra has earned praise for its photography capabilities and is considered by many to be one of the best camera smartphones of 2026. Despite increasing development costs affecting the smartphone industry, Vivo appears committed to launching another Ultra model in 2027.
Unlike some competing projects that are rumored to have been canceled due to rising production expenses, the Vivo X500 Ultra is still moving forward.
Two Possible Upgrades for the 35mm Main Camera
The biggest focus of the leak is the phone’s 35mm Zeiss main camera, which could arrive in one of two versions.
The first option replaces the current sensor with a 50MP 1/1.28-inch LOFIC sensor. Although this setup would reduce both the sensor size and resolution, it would introduce a much more advanced micro-gimbal stabilization system. The upgraded stabilization is expected to deliver smoother videos and better handheld recording performance.
The second option keeps the familiar 200MP 1/1.12-inch sensor but adds LOFIC technology to improve dynamic range. This approach maintains the high resolution while enhancing image quality in challenging lighting conditions. Many fans following the leak appear to favor this option.
Three Camera Choices for the 85mm Telephoto Lens
Vivo is also reportedly testing several versions of its 85mm telephoto camera.
The current model uses Samsung’s 200MP ISOCELL HP0 sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size. According to the leak, the company is considering three different upgrades:
- A refined version using a similar-sized sensor.
- A larger 200MP 1/1.3-inch sensor.
- A more ambitious 200MP 1/1.12-inch sensor, matching the size of the proposed main camera.
The final option would represent a significant upgrade, giving both the main and telephoto cameras exceptionally large sensors. However, it remains unclear whether Vivo will choose such an aggressive setup.
Ultra-Wide Camera Still a Mystery
The latest leak does not mention any planned changes for the ultra-wide camera. Vivo’s current focus appears to be on refining its main and telephoto cameras before finalizing the complete camera system.
Final Thoughts
The Vivo X500 Ultra is still under development, so its specifications are far from confirmed. However, the latest leak suggests Vivo is exploring several premium camera configurations aimed at improving both photography and videography.
Whether the company prioritizes stronger image stabilization or larger, higher-resolution sensors remains to be seen. As development continues, the Vivo X500 Ultra is shaping up to be another serious contender in the flagship camera smartphone market when it launches in 2027.
