Pokémon Go is Nintendo’s first venture into augmented reality games and it has already proved to be incredibly popular, with Pokémon players around the world downloading the app and hunting for pocket monsters.
Although most of the world can’t wait to catch Pokémon on their smartphones, Pokémon Go is now officially out for those in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. Those in Pakistan and other countries around the world are still having to wait – though new regions are officially getting Pokémon Go each day.
If you have an Android device, you don’t have to wait for Niantic and The Pokémon Company to announce an official release date of Pokémon Go in your region. If you don’t live in these countries, the game’s APK file is available for download, and it works on Android devices outside of the territories the game is available officially in right now.
Steps in order to download Pokémon Go on Android:
1. Before you do anything else, on your phone go to Settings, tap on Security (also labelled as Privacy on some devices), go to Unknown sources, and check Allow for the installation of apps from unknown sources. This will allow you to install Pokémon Go after downloading it.
2. Download Pokémon Go from here, here or here.
3. If you’re on a PC, attach your phone via USB and copy the Pokémon Go APK to the Downloads folder. If you’re on mobile, skip to the next step.
4. Now simply go to the Downloads folder on your phone and install it. You can now play Pokémon Go on Android.
