WhatsApp Introduces New Hub to Create and Manage Events

WhatsApp is rolling out a new Events hub that makes it easier for users to create, manage, and review events from one place. The new feature is currently available to some Android beta testers.
The update adds a dedicated Events section to WhatsApp settings. According to WABetaInfo, users can use this section to access their existing events and create new ones without opening individual chats.
WhatsApp Introduces New Hub to Create and Manage Events
WhatsApp has been expanding its event features over the past few updates. The platform previously allowed users to create events in group chats, communities, and individual conversations.
However, finding an event could be difficult when users had to search through their chats. The new Events hub addresses this issue by bringing all events together on a single page.
WhatsApp marks the new section with a badge in the settings menu so users can easily find it. The hub displays events created by the user as well as events they have been invited to attend.
How to Create an Event
Users can open the Events hub and select Create event to set up a new event. WhatsApp provides several options during the process.
Users can add an event name, description, start date and time, end time, and location. They can also choose whether to add a WhatsApp call link.
The app sets a reminder for one hour before the event by default, although users can change the reminder time. WhatsApp also automatically adds the host’s name.
Users can decide whether guests can bring additional people to the event. They can also add a cover photo to make the event easier to recognize.
Users will still be able to create events directly from their chats and groups.
People Without WhatsApp Can Join
One of the useful parts of the new event system is that users can invite people who do not have a WhatsApp account.
When an event is created, WhatsApp generates an invitation link. Anyone with the link can open it and view basic information such as the event name, date, and time.
The guest can then respond to the invitation without having a WhatsApp account. They need to provide their name and verify their phone number.
After confirming attendance, guests can access additional information, including the full location and WhatsApp call link.
What Information Can Guests See?
Event information is visible to guests on WhatsApp. This includes the event name, date, time, location, cover photo, and guest list.
The host can see each guest’s name, response, and phone number to manage the event. Guests who confirm their attendance can also see the names and responses of other attendees.
Phone numbers remain limited based on contact settings. Guests can only see another attendee’s phone number if they already have that person’s number saved as a contact.
WhatsApp says personal messages and calls remain end-to-end encrypted.

Availability
The new Events hub is rolling out with WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.36.5. The feature is currently available to some beta testers through the Google Play Store.
Since WhatsApp is releasing the feature gradually, not every beta user will see the new Events section immediately. The company has not yet announced when the Events hub will become available to all users.
The dedicated hub should make WhatsApp’s event tools more convenient, especially for users who regularly organize meetings, appointments, meetups, and other group activities.
